A time of reflection....it's been 2 months since the film festival ended and here are some thoughts as I look back at the event that I plan and work for all school year!
- I love my job, there is nothing better in this life then to LOVE your job, a job that offers me the chance to work with students who love to learn, love to work, love to create.
- I love my wife and children MORE than my job. These three people, Beth, Adam and EmmeClaire are my life!
- The Film Festival is an event in which I believe is an event that can be many student's "Super Bowl."
- I talk about the film festival alot.
- I LOVE the film festival. I LOVE watching the process, the creation, the work, the struggle, the reward, the hope and then the celebration. The celebration is always the Film Festival event. The celebration is being nominated, being a part of the lip dub or being one of the few students who wins an award.
- I look back at the show and I was very happy with the final product. Being at a new venue was hard. It wasn't the comfortable place that I was used to for the previous four years. It was hard because there was a different entrance, different equipment, different people and then different help.
- The Gateway Film Center did a nice job.
- Everyone looks fabulous! I love to see everyone, including moms and dads dressed up to the nines for the show. Every year I forget that I am in Columbus, Ohio and feel like I am hosting the real OSCARS in Hollywood.
- This year the event was something a little different.....I saw more emotion in the crowd then I remember from the other shows. When Cassidy won the award for Best Narration, there were cheers and there were tears! It was a special moment! I also really enjoyed the reaction when our Best Picture winners were announced. The excitement was something that I will never forget.
- The help....all of my old Eagle News students that came back to help. The hosts were great, the greeters and the photographers, the trophy girls to the video helpers, this show and the history of it cannot happen without all of students from previous years.
- Then I need to thank Mrs. C., my parents, Evan and Megan and my Brother-in-Law, Mike for all of their help. Setting up balloons, moving trophies, writing the script, carrying boxes, organizing stuff. Without their help, I have NO idea how I would be ready for the show.
- I LOVE the film festival, have I mentioned that? I wonder what the theme will be and I am real close to securing the theater for next year's festival.
