1st Annual Hyatts Film Festival
Watch the 1st Film Festival! PART ONE HERE and PART TWO HERE!!!
On May 24, 2010, The Hyatts Film Festival began! It was a beautiful evening and everyone was settling in to their seats at the Arena Grand. Mr. Meta with hosts, Kyle Desze and Trent Boucher were decked out in their tuxedos and were ready to go! This was the beginning to the franchise that is "The Hyatts Film Festival." Students shared their nominated films, trophies and prizes were awarded and the evening concluded without a flaw.
Here is an email Dr. McFarland received from a parent of a student who participated in the Hyatts Film Festival back in 2010....
"I have been to several events in other buildings of our district this year and over the past 14 years. I have walked away being happy that my children are participating in extracurricular activities, but have not left with the true excitement last night's activities generated. I felt that last night's event was first class, stellar and truly sets a tone for what professionalism in teaching is all about. Mr. Meta has done a fabulous job of encouraging, rewarding and mentoring his students."
From the Technology Leader in our district at the time....
"If I have done nothing else right in my career in Olentangy, at least I stuck a mac in your classroom at some point. If it has led to what you did last night I will be satisfied. The kids did an amazing job and the Film Festival was a huge hit! I can't tell you how impressed I was with the entire event and all of the work that led up to it."
The parents and students were incredibly excited and it speaks volumes about the culture it creates in your building! What an amazing job you are doing!
The first film festival was an overwhelming success and I hope that the next 15 are as well. --Mr. Meta
