Thursday was an exciting day for me at Hyatts! We announced the Hyatts Film Festival nominees for all awards to be handed out at the film festival on May 12th! We had 21 films submitted to the judges and 19 came back qualified for awards.
It was very exciting to get the nominee sheets ready for Eagle News to read. I had to print them out and staple them so that the kids didn't get a sneak peek at who the nominees may be. It also a little messy because there isn't a script to be read and the students have to wing it as they perform the announcements.
Just when it was time to announce the nominees, the 8th grade students wanted to come down to the library to watch the announcements, there was my 7th grade Mod Tech class in there so that I could help out with the show and there was another class of 6th grade students in there working on a project. The library was packed! It was awesome!
The show went on, really simple, as they do for the Oscars nominee show. The students celebrated their nominations, came down after the show to pick up their order forms and the day ended. I look forward to now putting together the show. It is a lot of hard work, but a lot of fun! I can't wait for May 12th! I can't wait for May 9th (Lip Dub (this lip dub was from last year) after school with my 8th graders)! It is a fun final month of the school year!
